Following the cancellation of the second session of the Brookes Bell Mariteam spring series 2017 due to exceptionally high winds, the third and final session was held on 20th June in the midst of the heatwave. However, competitors were greeted with good sailing conditions i.e. some decent but not too strong winds from the east.

Six boats took to the water, two from HFW, one from Thomas Miller and three from Brookes Bell.

Guy Main and his crew, Noemi d’Alessio, both of HFW, once again dominated the racing, despite challenges from Mark Thompson of HFW in their second boat and the Brookes Bell boats, with Guy sweeping the board with three firsts.

Following the three races, the sailing concluded with the crew helming the last “fun” race. This proved interesting to say the least, but everybody stayed dry and a lot of fun was had.

Once the boats had been “put to bed”, all competitors adjourned to the bar for a reviving drink or two, and BBQ food.

Series prizes were awarded and congratulations go to Guy Main of Holman Fenwick Willan.

The first session of the Brookes Bell Mariteam spring series 2017 was held on 23rd May and competitors were met with a beautiful evening and light but steady (albeit fluky) winds.

Five boats took to the water, one each from HFW, Thomas Miller and Brookes Bell, and two with Brookes Bell Helms and guest crew members from Thomas Miller.

Guy Main and his crew, Noemi d’Alessio both of HFW dominated the racing with two firsts and a second from the three races and took the well deserved prizes at the end of the evening.

Hot on Guy’s tail was Andrew Johnstone of Brookes Bell together with his crew Lisa Woodroof of Thomas Miller who finished the evening in second place, and Bob Grainger and David Boas, both of Thomas Miller who fished in third.

Following the three series races, the sailing concluded with the crew helming the last “fun” race. This proved interesting to say the least, but everybody stayed dry and a lot of fun was had, before the customary adjournment to the bar.

The next race series will be held on 6th June.
