With strong academic backgrounds and decades of experience in cargo issues, our scientists provide invaluable advice, guidance and technical opinions across a wide variety of claims and problems.
In addition to providing expert opinion, they frequently travel to investigate first-hand, liaising with other parties, trouble-shooting where appropriate and gathering evidence. In addition to dealing with the matter as it develops, our scientists will assist in determining the cause, nature and extent of spoilage and contamination incidents involving cargoes such as grains and animal feeds, chemicals, fertilisers, liquefaction of minerals, self-heating and fires. They also advise clients on matters relating to loss prevention and ship safety in regards to the carriage of hazardous cargoes. Our scientists have had extensive involvement in the prevention of losses as a consequence of bulk cargo liquefaction, and they advise industry bodies including at IMO level on the proper sampling and testing required for these cargoes.
Our cargo scientists in our UK and Asian offices are complemented from the UK offices by fuel chemists dealing mainly with fuel and liquid chemical claims, metallurgists who focus on failure investigation and fire investigators with many years' experience examining fires in ships, industrial and commercial buildings.
