Career Summary

Curriculum Vitae

Christopher is a Master Mariner with 9 years command experience.  He joined Brookes Bell in September 2024, following 24 years sailing on container vessels worldwide, with the last 9 years in the role of Master.  With experience on a range of vessel sizes, up to the 400m Ultra Large Container Ships, including drydocking.  He has experience navigating and operating vessels fitted with ECDIS as primary means of navigation.

Background

He has extensive experience in container stowage, planning and securing with various designs of fixed and portable lashing equipment and its associated maintenance.

Christopher has sailed a mixture of trade routes worldwide, which have also included dedicated trades including high volume reefer container routes, including the carriage of specialist reefer container units (Super Freezers/Pharmaceuticals).

All of his vessels were approved for the carriage of IMDG cargo, which has afforded him comprehensive knowledge with the safe stowage, carriage and monitoring of IMDG containerised cargo due to the large variety of cargoes and classes that were carried.

Recently, Christopher undertook a 20-year drydocking and retrofitting upgrade of a vessel which included preparing the vessel for Class Surveys and Audits and a vessel name change.

His most recent trade route was from the West Coast of South America to the Mediterranean via the Panama Canal.  This was a specialist route due to its cargo and fixed canal transit dates, and the varied weather conditions which has extensively built upon his knowledge of weather routing.  This was also required to be combined with the ensuring that the vessel also complied with the various restrictions imposed by Emission Control Areas (ECAs)

During Christopher’s Tenure as Master, he has been involved in ISM/ISPS/ MLC and Internal Audits on board.  He also has experience on Internal Investigations following incidents, accidents and injuries on board.
