Joshua McCready is a marine engineer with a Chief Engineers (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency (Motor).


Background

Josh joined Brookes Bell in 2023 as a marine consultant after being at sea for over 10 years. The majority of that time sailing on Cruise ships and the latter part sailing as 2nd Engineer & Chief Engineer on Irish Sea RO-PAX.

Based in our Liverpool office with a global remit, Josh has hands on experience with medium speed engines, as well as related auxiliaries & systems, with considerable time working on various Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems, High Voltage machinery & equipment, RORO hydraulic systems, Gearboxes, Deck Equipment, Hotel services, Electric propulsion systems (up to 20MW/11,000V) & CPP.

During his time at sea, Josh has been involved in numerous dry dockings. He took part in refits & commissioning of new installations, such as Emergency Diesel Generators & Bilge foaming equipment, as well as preparing cruise vessels for extended periods of warm layup.

  • Chief Engineer COC – Motor (Unlimited)
  • High Voltage Management level
  • Passenger safety cargo & hull integrity course

  • FD Marine Engineering & Management.

  • Holland America Line as 4th Engineer through to 2nd Engineer.
