Brookes Bell bolsters its container ship credentials with addition of Captain Chris Williams from Mærsk

We are delighted to welcome Captain Chris Williams as our latest Master Mariner as we look to expand our service offerings and expertise in the container ship sector.

With more than 24 years of at-sea experience onboard a range of container vessels across global voyages, including the past nine years as a Master. Captain Williams brings a wealth of hands-on operational knowledge and experience to our global team of Master Mariners, ensuring it can support various stake holders; including owners, operators, charterers and insurers that face differing issues and risks with all manner of cargo and operational challenges.

Crucially, with more than two decades of working for Danish shipowner A.P. Møller – Mærsk A/S, Captain Williams has become the leading expert and Master Mariner for our growing container ship division.

The move comes as the global container sector remains increasingly strained, with growing port congestion and limited vessel availability putting pressure on owners to keep their ships operating as effectively as possible to meet increased demand.

“We continue to see a range of issues in the container ship sector including large fires and the subsequent casualty management, global disruption from ongoing geo-political situations leading to the re-routing of vessels and the many and varied routine operational challenges that the industry faces. It is for this reason that Brookes Bell looked to expand its portfolio and bring in a leading Master Mariner to support our efforts in the container market,” said Captain Daniel Millett, Director of Nautical at Brookes Bell.
