Brookes Bell Celebrates Latest Set of Key Promotions

Brookes Bell is delighted to announce three significant promotions.

Arron Jackaman: Director of NDT

Arron Jackaman has ascended to the role of Director of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) at The Lab.  He joined Brookes Bell in 2016, bringing with him 18 years of experience in the heavy industry sector.  An ISO 9712/17024 Level 3 Non-Destructive Engineer, Arron is proficient in advanced NDT methods and has provided invaluable expertise, both on and offshore, across Southeast Asia, Europe, Western Africa, the Middle East, and South America.

After developing proprietary NDT technology for Brookes Bell, Arron’s expertise has been helpful to colleagues across the consultancy, helping owners and operators gain insights into the condition of their vessel by creating highly visual digital twins, and providing expert evidence and testimony in matters of court and arbitration.

Dominic Bell: Principal Master Mariner

Since joining Brookes Bell in January 2020, Dominic Bell has demonstrated exceptional expertise and leadership, now being promoted to Principal Master Mariner.  With a rich background sailing as Master, Dominic's 20 years at sea have seen him navigate a diverse array of vessels, from freight ferries to high-speed passenger ferries and naval auxiliaries.  His onshore ship management experience is extensive, having served as Designated Person Ashore, Company Security Officer, Crisis Manager, and Marine Manager alongside extensive pilotage and ship-handling experience.  At Brookes Bell, Dominic has been instrumental in preparing navigational incident replays and serving as an expert witness in UK court proceedings.

Karley Smith: Managing Master Mariner

Karley Smith has been promoted to Managing Master Mariner.  Since joining Brookes Bell in June 2022, Karley has brought her extensive experience from the offshore oil & gas sector and the private superyacht industry.  With 16 years at sea, including time during the COVID pandemic, Karley has served on a wide range of vessels including ro-ro and nuclear fuel vessels, and completed numerous advanced technical projects as a Dynamic Positioning Operator (DPO), including wind farm construction, operations and maintenance; subsea construction, supply, survey and ROV operation; and deep-water drilling.  Her role in new build projects, including leading the commissioning and acceptance testing of the bridge and navigation equipment for a 140m motor yacht, and her academic contributions as a part-time Lecturer at Fleetwood Nautical College, reflect her broad expertise and commitment to the maritime field.

These promotions are a testament to the exceptional talent and dedication within Brookes Bell, ensuring we continue to provide unparalleled maritime consultancy services.  I want to congratulate Arron, Dominic, and Karley on their well-deserved promotions and look forward to their continued contributions to our success,” said Anthony York, Chief Operating Officer at Brookes Bell.
