Brookes Bell are proud to have been involved in Mission RASI, the 24 hour charity rowing challenge to circumnavigate Singapore Island, a journey of some 140km. The Challenge, in aid of The Mission to Seafarers, took place on 22 April 2015 during Singapore Maritime Week. This year is Singapore’s 50th Anniversary and the Challenge is supported by the Singapore Government as part of the Singapore 50 Celebration.
Brookes Bell has been involved with the Challenge since the start, providing seed sponsorship to help buy the Cornish Pilot Gigs being used for the row, together with technical support in planning the route and with logistics. Several of our people took an active role: our Metallurgist Matt Calveley was part of the rowing team whilst Alison Carpenter, the wife of Partner Nigel, was the team’s Dietitian and another rower. Nigel Carpenter was a member of the support flotilla committee and Paul Davidson manned the Mission Control Centre during the event.
