Wisdom Marine and Synergy Launch Bulk Carrier Joint Venture

The bulk carrier sector is about to see the arrival of a new player thanks to a joint venture between Wisdom Marine and Synergy. The new venture will bear the title Wisdom Synergy Ship Management (WSSM) and will be headquartered in Singapore.

The new joint venture follows an agreement last year which saw Wisdom Marine appointing Synergy to manage a portion of its fleet.

Established in 1999 by shipping magnate James Lan, Wisdom Marine is the largest dry bulk ship owner (by number of vessels) in Taiwan. Synergy is a global provider of ship management services, and at present has over 660 vessels under management. These include bulk carriers of various sizes, VLCCs, car carriers and more.

In addition to its HQ in Singapore, Wisdom Synergy Ship Management will maintain operational centres in Taiwan and India.

Commenting on the new joint venture, James Lan, said:

“With WSSM, we embark on a transformative journey, leveraging Synergy’s expertise to enhance our fleet’s operational safety and efficiency, underscoring our commitment to sustainable practices and the wellbeing of our crew”.

Captain Rajesh Unni, the founder and executive chairman of Synergy, commented:

“Joining forces with Wisdom Marine, a leader in global shipping, is an honour. This strategic partnership is built on a strong foundation of mutual respect and common goals. We are committed to making a meaningful impact in the industry”.
